This summer heat is taking a toll on our grass, water, market and morale! Slaughter cows and yearlings alike taking several dollars off compared to last week. But hey, looking back over the years, these calves are still bringing lots of total dollars! Replacement cows have still been selling exceptionally well for the season we are in. Time will tell where this market is going and only time I am afraid. Uncertainty surrounding packing plant closures, mexican cattle crossing, dry weather and multiple other events cause volatility in CME futures. We appreciate our crew battling the summer heat. Will see yall next wednesday, featuring a set of black baldie and motley face bred heifers.
